Scholarship Winner Says Education Key to Greater Opportunities for
Donations are needed to fund these opportunities.
Christina Peterson is grateful for the opportunities provided by an
Iowa Nurses Foundation (INF) scholarship.
While the scholarship opened the door to greater success in her career,
Peterson noted rapid changes in health care are giving nurses even more
opportunities, including as:
- Nurse Practitioners
“The more educated nurses are, the more opportunities arise,” she

Peterson found the INF scholarship to be a strong motivator in the
decision to complete her Master’s Degree.
“When you’re looking at graduate courses, it can cost 700 dollars to
1,000 dollars per credit hour, plus books.
The scholarship was a great help in offsetting those costs.”
Paying it forward.
Today Peterson gives back by serving on the INF board, where she uses
her experience as a scholarship recipient to help others understand its
importance. “You can impact future nurses
and help them continue their education.
They may be taking care of you or your parents someday. It’s a contribution you can make to the
future of your profession.”
Of course, the scholarship funds depends on your donations. Peterson encourages her peers to give. “Even a few dollars makes a difference. When you can afford it, pay it forward.”
