INA Opens the 2025 Call for Candidates!

All interested candidates MUST complete a Consent to Serve form by the deadline of midnight on July 18th.

INA is officially opening the Call for Candidates for upcoming Board of Director positions. If you're passionate about making a difference in the nursing industry and want to shape the future of our association, we invite you to run for a leadership role. INA has the following positions to fill:

  • President-Elect
  • At-Large Director (2 positions) 
  • Newly Licensed Director
  • ANA Membership Assembly Representative 
  • Nominations Committee (2 positions)
  • INA Foundation (2 Directors)
  • Region President 
  • Region Secretary/Treasurer 
  • Region Board Liaison

All positions are for two year terms and take office immediately following the election results shared during the INA Membership Assembly scheduled for October 22nd, except for INA Foundation Director position, which is a three year term.

The INA Leadership Elections Call for Candidates closes at midnight on July 18.

All interested candidates MUST complete a Consent to Serve form by the deadline of July 18th. Incomplete Consent to Serves will not be considered.

Those elected for an INA Board of Directors position should plan to join the December 12, 2025, virtual board meeting, from 3:30pm to 5:00pm CST.

Those elected to serve on the INA Foundation Board of Directors should plan to join the following 2025 meetings in October, November, and December.

Position Descriptions 

President-Elect: Provides strong leadership for the association and sets a sound and proper course for its future. Assumes the responsibilities of the President in his/her absence and performs special functions as assigned to assist the President in performing the functions of that office. Serves on the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors

At-Large Director: The At-Large Director provides leadership for the association. Participates in developing objectives against which to review program progress and measure the association’s effectiveness in accomplishing its mission. Has legal and fiscal responsibilities to the members of the association.

Newly Licensed Director: The Newly Licensed Director has been in practice less than six (6) years at the time of submitting their Consent to Serve and will contribute information to reflect the needs of nurses early in their careers. Provides leadership for the association. Participates in developing objectives against which to review program progress and measure the association’s effectiveness in accomplishing its mission. Has legal and fiscal responsibilities to the members of the association.

ANA Membership Assembly Representative: INA is entitled to representation at regular and special meetings of the ANA Membership Assembly in accordance with ANA Bylaws and policy. The President and President-Elect of INA will serve, by virtue of their positions, for the two years of their terms of office as Representatives to the ANA Membership Assembly. The third, or any other additional ANA Representative, will be an INA/ANA member and will be elected in the odd number of years. To ensure that INA will be fully represented at the ANA Membership Assembly, an Alternate Representative list of candidates not elected, in descending order, will be maintained for the Secretary to contact if alternate representation is needed if the elected representative cannot attend. Should either ANA representative not be able to attend the ANA Membership Assembly, the Secretary will contact the alternate representatives in descending vote order to ensure adequate representation.

Nominations Committee: Members of the nominations committee will identify candidates for positions on the Board of Directors and other elected committees. Monitor the composition and qualifications of the board and committees to ensure they are representative and responsive to the membership.

INA Foundation Director: The INF Director provides leadership for conducting the business of the Iowa Nurses Foundation. Contribute direction for volunteer recruitment, recognition, and participation in activities. Solicit money from donors and participate in fundraising events. Support INF financially with a personal contribution. Participate in INA activities and events. (i.e., Legislative Day, Annual Conference and Membership Assembly.)

Region President: The Region President provides leadership for conducting the business of the Region. The Region President is responsible for organizing region meetings. They are also responsible for communicating the call for nominations for their region, INA region elections, and nominating region members for awards.

Region Secretary/Treasurer: The Region Secretary/Treasurer shall be accountable for the fiscal affairs, be able to interpret INA financials, and is accountable for the record keeping and reporting of meetings for their Region. Provide financial information and reports to INA Treasurer and Executive Director and give updates on the finical standing of region membership. Serves on INA Finance Committee. In the case of a simultaneous vacancy in the offices of Region President and Region Vice President, the Region Secretary/Treasurer shall act as Region President, and vacant offices shall be filled by a quorum of the remaining Region Directors, at a special meeting of the Region.

Region Board Liaison: The Region Liaison serves on the INA Board of Directors as an ex officio member. Ex officio members have all the same rights, privileges, duties, and obligations as any other board member. Liaison can participate in debates but cannot vote on motions during board meetings. The Liaison provides leadership for the association. Participates in developing objectives against which to review program progress and measure the association’s effectiveness in accomplishing its mission.
